Yay! Your meditation is on the way!

You can use this meditation as both a daily practice that will help you and your family re-wire your brain to be more naturally calm, compassionate, and connected, but it is also a great tool for times of stress or when your family really needs a to shift the mood or atmosphere in your home. You can do it alone, with your partner, or with your children.

Here are the answers to a couple of the most frequently asked questions I get about putting this meditation to use:

FAQ #1: Any tips for getting my kids to join?

One tip I do have for you if you’re hoping your children will join you in this practice, is to frame this as an INVITATION rather than a REQUIREMENT. Some kids, if they sense our agenda will instinctually dig their heels in, and that is a natural, normal, and healthy part of being human. We can side-step this instinct by engaging in the practice ourselves, modeling the behavior we are hoping to see, and inviting them in, but without any real expectations or pressure for it going a certain way.

FAQ # 2: When is the best time to do the meditation?

Some families love doing this meditation as a way to transition to the evening meal or into the bedtime routine. It can also be a really lovely connection ritual for those times when you’re reuniting after a separation, like in the morning upon waking up, or in the evening as everyone returns home.
